January 21, 2009 |
Dean of Instruction office (DOI) to rollover previous Fall/Spring/Summer classes and send
to Department Chairs (DCs) by 1/16/2009 |
DCs to discuss SOC with their faculty and together decide on Schedule requests for
the department
|
February 4, 2009 |
DCs to submit 2009/2010 Schedule of Classes (SOC) to DOI office with
changes, additions, deletions and any other information their department
wants to suggest by deadline of 2/2/2009 |
All requests such as room preference and other specific needs need to
be noted on the SOC that is submitted to the DOI |
February 13, 2009 |
DOI office will incorporate the information from the DCS into an
excel spreadsheet and send an
electronic version of the SOC to DCs |
The electronic version
will allow DCs to sort the SOC by several variables such as days, times,
building, room etc |
| |
DCs and departments will discuss the SOC, look for conflicts,
identify any concerns |
Questions to ask:
-Are classes of the same
discipline competing with one another?
-Are classes for the
same clientele competing?
-Are department
offerings spread evenly across the week and time frames?
-Are classes scheduled
within the proscribed time slots?
-Are prep times for labs
accounted for?
-Are classes with
specific software in the appropriate computer room?
-Are courses unique to
certificates available for students to take? |
| |
Vice Chancellor and Deans to meet with DCs to review, and discuss the
best possible SOC for WCC |
-Are the sequential
classes available from fall to spring
-Are the needs of the
students met for acquiring AA |
March 2, 2009 |
DCs return final electronic version of SOC to DOI office by deadline
of 3/2/2009 |
